So the PS2 is old.  Been there, done that.  PS3 is out.  There's XBOX 360.  There's the legendary Wii.  I got a playstation 2 because the price was right and I don't really need the latest and greatest. I really just needed to crawl out from under my mountainous to-do list and decompress.  So far its treated me right. I got a bunch of games and its a lot of fun on my HDTV.  Now I wanted to kick it up a notch and do some multiplayer online.  It came with an ethernet port, which is fine if your router is nearby, but mine isn't.  So now what?  There's a handy device called a wireless ethernet bridge which basically lets you plug your wired network cable into it and it communicates with your wireless network.  The problem is, they cost about half as much as what I bought my PS2 for - $50 for a cheap "slower" WIreless-B adapter, and $100 for the faster Wireless-G flavor.  Screw that, thought I.  I'll just unplug it and go in the bedroom (where the router is) and play on the small TV.  Or maybe I'll buy a really long network cable.   I'm sure future gaming consoles will have wireless capability, but I'm hestitant to throw money at something that's already "old".

Then I found out that the answer was with me all along.  Use your laptop to get your PS2 online.  That's right.  You plug one end of a network cable into your PS2, and the other end into your laptop (which can get online wireless just fine, right?).  Then you "bridge" the connections because Windows is Phat like that, and off you go.  Yeah, a bit more hardware than you might want sitting around in your living room, but good enough for now.

Awwww yeah.  Time to break your neck secret-agent style in Tom Clancy's splinter cell.  Yes You.  You just got your PS2 working online right?  Good, that's what I thought.  See you in a couple minutes.  Laughing
